… Not The Shutdown, unfortunately… But first, congrats to the game developing team of the Hybris that won yesterday! Really good job guys!

The Shutdown got really good reviews and had the chance to compete in the final round (soon, we will upload some photos from our presentation).

So we are happy, we love our game and we want to inform u that are mission continues… the total Shutdown will eventually happen… maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon! Be prepared!

Great News!!!

We were informed today that “The Shutdown” is among the 8 finalists for the Video Game Contest by HGDA. The winner will be revealed next Wednesday (27.06.2012).

Before the announcement, there will be a short presentation of each game in front of an audience. Fun times!

A typical 2D, point and click adventure!

During the game YOU, aka the player, are constantly facing ethical dilemmas. Every decision you make will lead you to an alternate ending. But don’t be a fool! Each ending is a symbolic death for you..we don’t use dragons and knives, fire and killing machines..we aim at your spirit. So, every time you decide to follow road A instead of road B, keep that in mind.

There is only one specific path that can lead you to the victorious ending. You just have to make ALL the right choices…and still you may lose.

The hero is a female young woman who for medical reasons spent the night in the hospital. When she woke up in the next morning, she realized that everybody was acting differently and totally weird. Her own mother who was laying in the hospital couch’s near her, seemed totally shutdown. She started wondering around visiting all the familiar places- her university where she usually spends most of her time, the music store where her boyfriend works, her house etc, only to found out that everybody she knew and didn’t know, looked like mesmerized. The communication with all her beloved ones seems to end up in dead end discussions, always including references in applications/social media/urls etc.
Only when she meets an underground anarchist group called “The Awakers”, she will found out what have happened. The truth as it was revealed to her was that in the night she got food poisoning a surprising announcement was made by CIGA (Central Internet Governing Authority)- the levathian company who had the ultimate monopoly of internet. According to this announcement, the company would give free internet connection to everybody. The only thing that they had to do was to enter a 10digit password that was given at the announcement and connect with the main CIGA’s digital signal. What happened next thought cannot be described in plain words- a true digital attack. When somebody entered the 10digit password, a sudden flash appeared that aimed at the brain grey matter- the center of psychiatric disorders. What that flash did, was that it triggered a dangerous psychopathological illness- the internet addiction. So in just one night everybody turned into some kind of internet junkies, living and breathing online, denouncing their physical presence and indulge themselves in the virtual world. A virtual world which was under the total economical and political control of CIGA.
The only way to stop CIGA’s rule over people, was to go at CIGA’s headquarters, find the main unit and turn the switch off- something that will automatically shutdown all the internet connections , “resetting” all peoples’ brains back to normal. Sounds simple enough?. Even if you find the main unit which is overly guarded , the switch is being locked up. In order to unlock it you have to solve a puzzle in exact 1 minute…or else the alarm will be triggered and you will be captured.

Our hero after spending the night in hospital, is facing a new strange reality; Everybody acts like emotional zombies.

During the game the hero finds herself in a constant moral dilemma to follow the mainstream or not, while the goal is to find out what happened and decide whether she would save the world or let herself plunge into the new social reality.
